Group Therapy Day Program

Early Intervention

In 2025, Constellation Kids successfully concluded an 8-week pilot program with 10 children aged 2–4. The pilot was based on our Group Therapy Day model and explored how small-group early intervention, combined with embedded therapeutic supports, could meet the needs of young children with developmental differences. The outcomes from this program are now informing the design of our future inclusive long daycare project.

Program Overview

The Group Therapy Day Pilot Program was designed for children aged 2–4 who required therapeutic support to thrive. It combined small-group early intervention with therapeutic approaches that supported:

  • Emotional regulation

  • Social development

  • Language and communication

  • Sensory processing skills

  • Confidence and independence

Therapy Within the Program

The program provided more than play and supervision. It offered a structured, responsive environment tailored for children with NDIS plans, aligning directly with individual therapy goals while preparing children for future participation in long daycare or kindergarten.

Children took part in:

  • Supported group play

  • Child-led learning activities

  • Therapeutic routines that promoted developmental growth

The program was delivered by allied health professionals within a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, family-centred environment.

Children accessed therapeutic supports through their individual NDIS plans, which included:

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Speech and Language Therapy

  • Play-Based Counselling and Psychology Support

Therapy was provided both:

  • One-on-one with clinicians, targeting personalised NDIS goals

  • In groups, with strategies woven naturally into daily activities and play

This ensured therapy occurred in context, supporting children in ways that were practical, relevant, and effective.

Looking Ahead

The Group Therapy Day Program served as a stepping-stone toward our future vision of an inclusive, therapy-integrated long daycare centre. The learnings from this pilot have laid a strong foundation for expanding into a full model that will offer longer days, higher educator-to-child ratios, onsite allied health services, and a curriculum that celebrates neurodiversity while supporting all children to thrive.
